Having initially trained as a &#8216;Graphic Designer&#8217; with a printing company in Northamptonshire,<br \/>\nBrian also studied part-time at Northampton School of Art and Leicester Polytechnic. After his apprenticeship, he<br \/>\nreturned to full-time education at North East London Polytechnic studying print, typography, film and photography and<br \/>\nthen progressed to a Post Graduate course in \u2018Advanced Printmaking\u2019 at Saint Martin&#8217;s School of Art.<br \/>\nOn completion of his masters course Brian worked as a Graphic Designer with &#8216;Time-Out&#8217; magazine and as a Print<br \/>\nTechnician at North East London Polytechnic, University of Wales, Aberystwyth and Senior Technician at Nottingham<br \/>\nTrent Polytechnic. Brian\u2019s teaching career began at Bournville College of Art and then later at Limerick College of Art as<br \/>\na Graphic Design tutor. In the 1990\u2019s Brian started working at Bradford School of Art teaching Graphic Design and<br \/>\nPrintmaking.<br \/>\nBrian is very busy with \u2018free-lance&#8217; activities, group and solo exhibitions, for example the Royal Academy Summer<br \/>\nShow, National Original Print exhibition and extensive involvement with photographic projects and printmaking in<br \/>\nScotland . His book \u2018Colonsay-Elements of an Island\u2019 was published in 2003 to much critical acclaim. Exhibiting prints<br \/>\nof Lower Wharfedale; teaching at Bradford School of Art and delivering a range of courses to creatives employed by<br \/>\ninternational greeting card company Hallmark Cards.<br \/>\nHe then lectured part-time in Bradford School of Art and Leeds University of the Arts, eventually focussing on his own<br \/>\ndevelopment as a professional artist.<br \/>\nNow working in the Dales, currently living in Ingleton. He has a studio and also he teaches print workshops,<br \/>\noccasional lectures and presentations.<br \/>\nHe works primarily from the landscape, in Scotland, Ireland, the Hebrides, the south of France (exhibiting in<br \/>\nBeaulieu-sur-Mer, near Nice &#8211; 2017) and locally in Yorkshire, exhibiting and taking commissions for landscape prints.<br \/>\nIn 2021 he was selected for the heats of Sky Arts \u2018Landscape Artist of the Year\u2019.<br \/>\nA new exhibition of artworks with the theme of \u2018Winter\u2019 to be shown in the Reginald Farrer Room, Old Sawmill Caf\u00e9,<br \/>\nClapham, North Yorkshire in November 2024 and \u2018Landscapes\u2019 in September 2025. He works with many print<br \/>\ntechniques and processes such as: etching, drypoint, screenprint, relief and monoprint. In addition there are paintings<br \/>\nand drawings in Watercolour and Oil Pastel.
